In 69 BCE, Julius Caesar became a quaestor in Rome (an official who was in charge of public revenue and expenditure). Sadly, his wife Cornelia died in 69 BCE. In 67 BCE, Julius became married to Pompeia. In 65 BCE, he became an aedile (an official who was in charge of maintenance of public buildings, regulation of public festivals, and enforcing public order). In 62 BCE, he became a praetor (someone who led armies, presided in law courts, and administered the law). Also in 62 BCE he divorced Pompeia. From 61 to 60 BCE, he resided as the governor of the Roman province Spain. In 60 BCE, the First Triumvirate was formed and Caesar was a step closer to becoming more powerful.
